It is located {{cvt|27|km}} from Dumka, the district headquarters. GeographyJarmundi, the eponymous community development block headquarters, is located at {{coord|24|23|31|N|87|3|23|E}}.[1] DemographicsAs per 2011 Census of India Jarmundi had a total population of 168,163, all of which were rural. There were 84,341 (50%) males and 82,822 (50%) females. Scheduled Castes numbered 11,688 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 44,796. Population below 6 years was 29,973.[2] Hindi and Santali are languages spoken in the region.
