JemJem[1] is an E-commerce website for refurbished Apple products, mainly catering to iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Accessories in the United States. Launched in 2014, it is headed by Jay Kim and is based in Costa Mesa, California. JemJem is the third largest website[2] for refurbished iPhone and iPad in the United States, as rated by the popular American internet media company Buzzfeed.

History

JemJem was set up by Jay Kim in Dec 2014,[3] operating through the website Amazon. At this time the company dealt in self-manufactured Android Tablet PCs. In 2014 Kim became interested in iPad technology and shifted the company’s focus to the sale of refurbished Apple iPads and later refurbished versions of iPhones, Macbooks and other Apple products.

Recent

  • In February 2018 JemJem got certified status for selling its products through Amazon Certified Refurbished program[4]. The certification provides JemJem a more prominent position on Amazon and its products will now be backed by Amazon's Return Policies.
  • In June 2017 JemJem collaborated with Walmart for selling its products. Though sold in Walmart’s platform, JemJem manages these orders directly, providing support for handling and shipping, returns, exchanges and customer service etc[5].
  • In November 2018 JemJem announced relocating to a new and much better work place that embraces the modern appeal and promote better productivity. The new office space is in Costa Mesa, CA.[6].

Milestones

  • February 2018: JemJem announced the availability of Samsung Refurbished Devices on its website[7].
  • June 2016: JemJem started working with FedEx for International expansion.[8]
  • June 2017: JemJem teamed up with Apple for having Apple Pay as its optimal transaction notification platform.[9]
  • July 2017: JemJem announced the availability of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus handsets on its website.[10]

Achievements

  • 2016: JemJem Awarded With Google Trusted Stores Badge.[11]
  • 2017: Huffingtonpost rated JemJem as USA’s third largest retailer for Apple refurbished products.[12]
  • 2018: Amazon certified for selling products through Amazon Certified Refurbished program[13].
