Kim then began to exhibit commercially. She focuses on installation art, whose freedom and ephemerality has engaged her.[1] One of her best known works is Stratiformis, a piece of public art in Catalano Square, Milwaukee, completed in 1996. A large work that uses disassembled knitting machines, it signifies the local labor history of the area. She is also known for her Body and Shadow, which re-purposes machine made textiles into a work made by hand, representing the tension between pre-industrial Korean society and Western consumerism. AwardsKim has received several fellowships, including Illinois Arts Council Fellowships and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. ExhibitionsKim has shown her work worldwide, including at the Chicago Cultural Center; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Brooklyn Museum; High Museum of Art, Atlanta; Gallery Hyundai, Seoul; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, South Korea.[4] References1. ^1 2 {{Cite web|url=http://via.library.depaul.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1033&context=oral_his_series|title=jin soo kim Interview|last=Kim|first=Jin Woo|date=24 April 2011|website=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Kim, Jin Soo}}2. ^1 {{Cite web|url=https://www.mmoca.org/mmocacollects/artists/jin-soo-kim|title=Jin Soo Kim {{!}} MMoCA|website=www.mmoca.org|language=en|access-date=2018-04-11}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.saic.edu/profiles/faculty/jinsookim/|title=Jin Soo Kim - School of the Art Institute of Chicago|last=(SAIC)|first=School of the Art Institute of Chicago|website=www.saic.edu|language=en|access-date=2018-04-11}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.artfacts.net/en/artist/jin-soo-kim-23791/profile.html|title=Jin Soo Kim|last=ArtFacts.net|website=ArtFacts.net|language=en|access-date=2018-04-11}} 6 : Multimedia artists|Women installation artists|Seoul National University alumni|1950 births|Living people|21st-century women artists |
