From 2015 to 2017, he represented the Rutland-Windsor-1 district as a member of the Vermont House of Representatives.[1][2] Tate serves as a heavy equipment operator and explosives expert with the United States Naval Construction Battalions (known as the Seabees).[3] On April 7, 2017, he resigned his seat in the Legislature for a yearlong overseas deployment.[4][5] Governor Phil Scott appointed former Vermont Retail and Grocers Association President Jim Harrison to the vacated position.[6] Political careerTate sponsored a bill during the 2017 legislative session to establish a tuition waiver program for the members of the Vermont National Guard.
