Life and careerWilson was born in Wigan, Lancashire, in 1884.[1] He played football for Wigan United and Darwen before signing for Blackburn Rovers in April 1905 for a £125 fee. He made 42 appearances in the First Division, mostly in his second season, before spending the 1908–09 Southern League season with Brighton & Hove Albion. He missed two months with injury, but still played 35 matches in all competitions, and moved on to another Southern League club, Millwall.[2] He made well over 200 Southern League appearances for Millwall, captained the team, and was selected for the league's representative team to face the Scottish League XI in 1910.
