Johann Eberhard Ihle (5 June 1727, in Esslingen – 17 January 1814, in Nuremberg) was a German painter. He was the son of portraitist Johann Jakob Ihle (1702–1774), from whom he first learned painting.[1] In 1749 he settled in Nuremberg, where in 1751 he became a member of the Nürnberger Malerakademie. From 1771 to 1811 he served as director of the Academy.[2] His painting style ranged from Rococo to Classicism. He is considered one of the more significant Nuremberg portrait painters of the second half of the 18th century.[2] References1. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=4V0VAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA93&lpg=PA93&dq=%22Ihle,+Johann+Eberhard%22+1727&source=bl&ots=XfBqfc-nK3&sig=fNb7glPj6OUnUUt8TwHVETEaO0o&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi-1evYuqDRAhUDwYMKHV8fDk84ChDoAQgvMAU#v=onepage&q=%22Ihle%2C%20Johann%20Eberhard%22%201727&f=false Bryan's Dictionary of Painters and Engravers, Volume 3] by Michael Bryan {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Ihle, Johann Eberhard}}2. ^1 [https://www.deutsche-biographie.de/gnd117126748.html#ndbcontent Ihle, Johann Eberhard] In: Neue Deutsche Biographie (NDB).
