Hall (born 1932/33) is an American businessman, and the chairman and CEO of Ashland Oil from 1981 to 1997.[1] Hall earned a degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1955.[1] Hall joined Exxon as a chemical engineer in 1955, and moved to Ashland in 1957.[2] In 1981, Ashland Oil, then the largest independent oil refiner in the US, appointed Hall as chairman and CEO, succeeding Orin E.
