John Templeton Smith (1943, Shrewsbury, England) is a British-born American thriller novelist. Early CareerSmith served in the Royal Air Force as a pilot. Then he became an airline pilot, and moved into aerospace journalism.[1] NovelistThe bestselling English novelist and author Desmond Bagley lived near Smith, and with his guidance Smith went on to write ten thriller novels. He moved to Oklahoma City with his wife in 1984 to do about six months of research on a book about the United States presidency, and has been there ever since.[2] He taught creative writing at Oklahoma City University, and wrote the John Winter Trilogy and other novels there.
