Josue Ortega is a lecturer in economics at the University of Essex.[1] He is the author of a controversial article that suggests that the emergence of online dating has caused an increase in the number of interracial marriages in the US.[2] Ortega's findings have been covered by international media, including Forbes,[3] the Times,[4] New Scientist,[5] Business Insider[6] and the MIT Technology Review.[7] Ortega has been interviewed by Thinking Allowed at BBC Radio 4.[8]

Ortega obtained his PhD at the University of Glasgow under the supervision of Professor Hervé Moulin.[9] He received the Catherine Richards prize by the UK Institute for Mathematics and its Applications in 2016.[10][11] He has published his research in the Journal of Mathematical Economics and in Economics Letters.[12][13]
