Kalan Haywood, II. is a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 16th Assembly District beginning in 2019. 19 years old when he won the Democratic primary election in August 2018 and the unchallenged^[1] election in November 2018, Haywood is the youngest person serving in the Wisconsin Assembly;^[2] he is not, however, the youngest in history (as Michael Elconin was also 19 when he won the 16th Assembly District in 1972)^[2] or to be serving in a state legislature, (as several 19-year-olds were elected to various legislatures in the 2018 midterms).^[3]
