He is originally from Jodhpur district. He is an ex-civil servant of 1993 and 1997 batch of Indian Civil Services. He was an officer of DANICS in the Government of NCT of Delhi, but later resigned from the service citing personal reasons. Presently, he is associated with the organization PUCL.[2] He has also mentored several UPSC aspirants in the past, many of them were selected in various state level and national level competitive exams. FamilyHe is the son of a well-known biochemist Dr R.H Sankhala & Mrs. Saroj R. Sankhala, from Jodhpur. Dr Sankhala (1922-1999) was a talented biochemist and did Ph.D twice, one in Biochemistry and one in Organic Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and University of London, England (United Kingdom). CareerHe is a science graduate and also a law graduate. He did his graduation in Science from Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology, Jodhpur at the tender age of 18, which is a big achievement in itself.(normal age is around 21 years). He joined the Indian Civil Services as a Customs officer, after getting selected in the highly competitive Civil Services Exam, 1992. Later, serving as Customs Appraiser he got selected as DANICS officer, after qualifying the same exam of 1996 and was appointed as DANICS officer of 1997 batch. After serving for some years, owing to some personal reasons he resigned from the service.
