She is from Highlands Ranch, Colorado,[1] and currently works as an editor for Edelman Japan.[2] Tanquary studied creative writing at Knox College, where she graduated from in 2010.[3] At Knox College, she was listed as a distinguished student on the Dean's List and the President's Circle.[4] After attaining her degree, Tanquary taught English as a Foreign Language to middle school students in the Gunma Prefecture of Japan.[5][1] In college, Tanquary wrote several short stories for adults. She has always been interested in Japanese folklore, which stimulated the concept for her debut novel, a juvenile fiction book titled The Night Parade. Soon after its January 2016 release, the author stated that she plans to release a new middle-grade series as well as an unrelated fantasy novel for adults.[6] She has written columns for Writer’s Digest and has been featured in several other publications. She is also an advocate for representation of diversity in juvenile and teen fiction.[7] Tanquary is represented by Thao Le of the Sandra Dijkstra Agency,[8] and her debut novel was published through Sourcebooks Jabberwocky.[9] References1. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://www.knox.edu/news/deans-list-fall-2009/deans-list-fall-2009-media|title=Dean's List Fall 2009 - Knox College|website=www.knox.edu|access-date=2016-12-10}} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=https://twitter.com/edelmanjapan/status/684996609059336192|title=Edelman Japan on Twitter|last=@EdelmanJapan|first=|date=2016-01-06|work=|newspaper=Twitter|access-date=2016-12-10|via=}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.knox.edu/Documents/PDFs/Donors%202010/HRC10%20Class%202010.pdf|title=HRC10 Class of 2010|last=|first=|date=2010|website=knox.edu|publisher=Knox College|access-date=2016-12-10}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.knox.edu/Documents/PDFs/Donors%202010/HRC10PresCirc.pdf|title=HRC10 President's Circle|last=|first=|date=2010|website=knox.edu|publisher=Knox College|access-date=2016-12-10}} 5. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.sourcebooks.com/index.php?option=com_egdauthors&view=author&aid=A3108|title=Kathryn Tanquary {{!}} Sourcebooks.com {{!}} Sourcebooks.com|website=www.sourcebooks.com|access-date=2016-11-10}} 6. ^{{Cite journal|last=Sambuchino|first=Chuck|date=2016-02-01|year=|title=Breaking in: debut authors: how they did it, what they learned and why you can do it, too|url=|journal=Writer's Digest|volume=96|issue=2|pages=18|via=Academic OneFile}} 7. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/guide-to-literary-agents/7-tips-for-writing-about-other-cultures|title=7 Tips for Writing About Other Cultures {{!}} WritersDigest.com|date=2016-01-08|newspaper=WritersDigest.com|language=en-US|access-date=2016-12-10}} 8. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.dijkstraagency.com/author-page.php?auth_id=Tanquary|title=Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency|website=www.dijkstraagency.com|access-date=2016-12-09}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/kathryn-tanquary/the-night-parade-tanquary/|title=Kirkus Review: The Night Parade|last=|first=|date=2015-09-21|website=|publisher=Kirkus Reviews|access-date=2016-11-09}} External links
