Kavala Island (Île Kavala) is an island in Lake Tanganyika. It had a lighthouse by the late 19th century.{{sfn | Encyclopaedia Britannica | 1894 | p=802}} The London Missionary Society set up a mission there in 1882, relocating from Ujiji, becoming its Central African Mission.{{sfn | Garvey | 1994 | p=25}}{{sfn | Stewart | 1903 | p=395}} The island is about six kilometers long and about one kilometer from the western shore of Lake Tanganyika.
