The municipality was established on 1 January 2016 and consists of the former communes of Kaysersberg, Kientzheim and Sigolsheim.[1] EducationSchools in the commune include:[2]
The Lycée Seijo, a Japanese boarding school,[3] operated in Kientzheim from 1986 to 2005.[4] The European Centre for Japanese Studies in Alsace ({{lang-fr|Centre européen d'études japonaises}}, CEEJA, {{lang-ja|アルザス・欧州日本学研究所}} Aruzasu Ōshū Nihongaku Kenkyūsho) opened at the site of the former school.[5] See also
