BoundariesThe constituency encompasses Khulna Sadar and Sonadanga thanas.[2][3] HistoryThe constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973. Ahead of the 2008 general election, the Election Commission redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the 2001 Bangladesh census.[4] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[5] In the 2018 general election, the constituency was one of six chosen by lottery to use electronic voting machines.[6] Members of ParliamentElectionsElections in the 2010s{{Election box begin | title=General Election 2014: Khulna-2[12]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Bangladesh Awami League |candidate = Mohammad Mizanur Rahman |votes = 69,017 |percentage = 95.0 |change = +45.9 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Jatiya Party (Manju) |candidate = Rashida Karim |votes = 3,649 |percentage = 5.0 |change = N/A }}{{Election box majority| |votes = 65,368 |percentage = 90.0 |change = +89.1 }}{{Election box turnout| |votes = 72,666 |percentage = 27.6 |change = -48.7 }}{{Election box gain with party link without swing| |winner = Bangladesh Awami League |loser = Bangladesh Nationalist Party }}{{Election box end}} Elections in the 2000s{{Election box begin | title=General Election 2008: Khulna-2[2][14][15]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Bangladesh Nationalist Party |candidate = Nazrul Islam Manju |votes = 90,950 |percentage = 50.0 |change = -7.8 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Bangladesh Awami League |candidate = Muhammad Mizanur Rahman |votes = 89,280 |percentage = 49.1 |change = +10.1 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = National Awami Party |candidate = Md. After winning all five, she chose to represent Bogra-6 and quit the other four, triggering by-elections in them. Ali Asgar Lobi of the BNP was elected unopposed after the Awami League decided not to contest the by-election scheduled for November.[16][17] {{Election box begin | title=General Election 2001: Khulna-2[18]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Bangladesh Nationalist Party |candidate = Khaleda Zia |votes = 91,819 |percentage = 57.8 |change = +10.9 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Bangladesh Awami League |candidate = Manjurul Imam |votes = 62,021 |percentage = 39.0 |change = -0.3 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Mohammad Hossain Mukta |votes = 2,282 |percentage = 1.4 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Islami Jatiya Oikya Front |candidate = Ferdous Khan |votes = 1,790 |percentage = 1.1 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Tariqul Islam |votes = 697 |percentage = 0.4 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate| |party = Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Basad-Khalekuzzaman) |candidate = Nurul Islam |votes = 207 |percentage = 0.1 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Jatiya Party (Manju) |candidate = Syed Delowar Hossain |votes = 96 |percentage = 0.1 |change = N/A }}{{Election box majority| |votes = 29,798 |percentage = 18.8 |change = +11.2 }}{{Election box turnout| |votes = 158,912 |percentage = 73.3 |change = -8.8 }}{{Election box hold with party link without swing| |winner = Bangladesh Nationalist Party }}{{Election box end}} Elections in the 1990s{{Election box begin | title=General Election June 1996: Khulna-2[18]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Bangladesh Nationalist Party |candidate = Sheikh Razzak Ali |votes = 65,306 |percentage = 46.9 |change = +2.4 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Bangladesh Awami League |candidate = Manjurul Imam |votes = 54,774 |percentage = 39.3 |change = +9.1 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami |candidate = Md.
