Kolkata Metro Line 3 is a line of the Kolkata Metro, that of 2018 is still under construction.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}} The route spans {{convert|16.72|km|mi}} from Joka in the south, to Esplanade in the north.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}} It will connect to Kolkata Metro Line 1 and Kolkata Metro Line 2 at Esplanade in central Kolkata.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}} Line 3 is being built by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}}

Development

It is partially elevated and partially underground: around {{convert|8.5|km|mi}} of the project will be elevated and the rest {{convert|6.32|km|mi}} of the metro line will be underground.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}} The project is getting delayed due to non availability of land for the construction of train depot at Joka.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}} As on March 2018 the Train Depot construction have not yet started.{{citation-needed|date=September 2018}}

Construction was further delayed in September 2018 due to the Majerhat Bridge collapse: the metro was being built right next to the bridge.
