BiographyHe reigned from 1840 until his death in 1863. Due to his military victories, Korebas is often described as the Warrior Garaad. He defeated the Majeerteen boqor and reached the Indian Ocean and sacked his capital at Noobir. The catalyst behind the wars was expansionism of the majeerteen Sultanate into the Dhulbahante Sultanate. This expansionism was primarily caused by increased exports at Majeerteen ports in the 1840s which resulted Majeerteen desire for livestock herding into a wider area of fertile lands to meet the greater produce demands.[1] His battle commanders were Siciid Qamax and Farah Afxakame. During Korebas' reign the British were making preparations to colonize northern Somalia by sending Richard Burton and John Speke.
