It blooms between August and November producing pink flowers. Often found on hillside and slopes in coastal areas of the Great Southern regions of Western Australia in a small area centred in the Fitzgerald River National Park where it grows in gravelly sandy or loamy soils over limestone or sandstone.[2] The species was first formally described by the botanist Johannes Conrad Schauer in 1844 in Johann Georg Christian Lehmann's work Plantae Preissianae.
