The terminal station is expected to open in late 2019.[3] (Service had previously been estimated in 2018.[4][5]) It is located across Sir Francis Drake Blvd {{convert|1/3|mi|1}} from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal,[6] from which it gets its name. HistoryThe land for the station was acquired in 1983 by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.[7] Initially part of the original plan for system's full buildout,[8] its opening was delayed to a later date as the line's construction was split into phases. Until the line is extended, shuttle bus service connects the Larkspur Terminal with San Rafael Transit Center.[9] References1. ^{{cite news|title=SMART TO BEGIN LARKSPUR EXTENSION CONSTRUCTION|url=http://www.sonomamarintrain.org/node/111|accessdate=22 June 2017|agency=SMART|date=21 June 2017}} 2. ^{{cite news|last1=Prado|first1=Mark|title=New Larkspur ferry parking eases crunch|url=http://www.marinij.com/article/NO/20151121/NEWS/151129950|accessdate=14 June 2016|agency=Marin Independent Journal|date=23 November 2015}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://sonomamarintrain.org/construction-updates|title=Construction Updates|date=2017-02-02|website=Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit|language=en|access-date=2019-03-22}} 4. ^{{cite news|last1=Moore|first1=Derek|title=Sonoma County transportation planners await word on funding under President Trump|url=http://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/6306698-181/sonoma-county-transportation-planners-await?artslide=0|accessdate=23 November 2016|publisher=The Press Democrat|date=19 November 2016}} 5. ^{{cite news|last1=Moore|first1=Derek|title=SMART seeking funding to extend rail line to Windsor|url=http://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/5493390-181/smart-seeking-funding-to-extend?artslide=0|accessdate=1 June 2017|agency=The Press Democrat|date=12 April 2016}} 6. ^{{cite news|last1=Prado|first1=Mark|title=SMART Larkspur extension moves forward amid some discontent|url=http://www.marinij.com/article/NO/20161210/NEWS/161219971|accessdate=15 December 2016|publisher=Marin Independent Journal|date=10 December 2016}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=Cross Valley Rail Preservation Study|url=http://www.tularecog.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Cross_Valley_Rail_Feasibility_Study2.pdf|website=Tulare County Association of Governments|publisher=Korve Engineering, Inc|accessdate=10 April 2017}} 8. ^{{cite news | author= | title=North bay voters back commuter rail — finally | url=http://sanfrancisco.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2008/11/03/daily74.html | publisher=San Francisco Business Times | accessdate=2009-06-23 | date=2008-11-05}} 9. ^{{cite news|last1=Prado|first1=Mark|title=SMART: Trespassers stole power in San Rafael-to-Larkspur tunnel|url=http://www.marinij.com/article/NO/20161212/NEWS/161219935|accessdate=7 June 2017|agency=Marin Independent Journal|date=25 May 2017}} External links
