}}Lee Man Tat BBS (born 1929, {{zh|first=t,j|t=李文達|s=李文达|p=Lǐ Wéndá|j=Lei5 Man4daat6}}) is a Hong Kong billionaire and chairman of the family-owned Chinese sauce and condiment company Lee Kum Kee.[1] According to Forbes, his wealth is estimated at $11.6bn. In July 2017, his company purchased London's landmark Walkie-Talkie skyscraper.[2]

Early life

Lee Man Tat was born in Macau in 1929.[3] He is the eldest son of Lee Siu-nam ({{zh|first=t,j|c=李兆南|p=Lǐ Zhàonán|j=Lei5 Siu6naam4}}), who was the third son of Lee Kum-sheung ({{zh|first=t,j|t=李錦裳|s=李锦裳|p=Lǐ Jǐncháng|j=Lei5 Gam2soeng4}}), who founded the company and invented oyster sauce in Zhuhai in 1888.[4]

Career

Lee joined Lee Kum Kee and took over the running of the company from his father in 1972, when he bought out his uncles with the help of his father.[5][4] In 1986, he bought his younger brother's 40% stake.[4]

Personal life

Lee is married, with five children, and lives in Hong Kong.[1] His eldest son, Lee Wai-chung ({{zh|first=t,j|c=李惠中|p=Lǐ Huìzhōng|j=Lei5 Wai6zung1}}), joined the business in 1985.[4]
