It was discovered on 30 July 1922, by German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth in Heidelberg and given the preliminary designation 1922 ME. Photometric observations at the Oakley Observatory in Terre Haute, Indiana, during 2007 were used to build a light curve for this object. This asteroid was observed in 2013 by the ASTR315 class at the University of Maryland which determined a rotation period of 8.37 ± 0.12h.[2] References1. ^{{Cite web |url=http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=983;cad=1 |title=983 Gunila (1922 ME) |work=JPL Small-Body Database |publisher=NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory |access-date=2 May 2016}} 2. ^Minor Planet Bulletin.Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers, 41, 2014, p. 77. }} External links
