The species is endemic to the Philippines.[2] EtymologyThe specific name, herrei, is in honor of American ichthyologist Albert William Herre.[3] Geographic rangeIn the Philippines L. herrei is found on the islands of Cebu and Negros.[2] ReproductionL. herrei is oviparous.[2]SubspeciesIncluding the nominotypical subspecies, there are two subspecies which are recognized as being valid.[2]
