This species was described from fossilized remains preserved in Burmese amber from the Lower Cretaceous. The amber containing the fossil was mined in the Hukawng Valley, Myanmar.[1] The species name refers to the former name of the country where the amber was found (Burma).[1] References1. ^1 {{cite journal|last1=Szadziewski|first1=Ryszard|title=Biting Midges (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) from Burmese Amber, Myanmar|journal=Journal of Systematic Palaeontology|date=23 July 2004|volume=2|issue=2|pages=115–121}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q30326297}}{{Chironomoidea-stub}}{{paleo-insect-stub}} 5 : Fossil insects of Asia|Insects described in 2004|Fossil taxa described in 2004|Prehistoric Diptera|Leptoconops |
