He was capped three times for the England amateur team. Life and careerChampelovier was born in Kensington and attended Wood End Park Junior School.[2] He worked in the electronics industry, beginning as an instrument maker for EMI and then as a draughtsman for Cossor.[2][5] He married Nora Leonard in 1958.[2] While on National Service duties, Champelovier played football for Ilford, and joined Hayes in 1954 after his discharge. In eight seasons with the club, he scored 137 goals from 266 games, and made numerous appearances in representative matches at various levels. In 1957, he was capped three times for the England amateur team, and scored a hat-trick on his debut, in a 5–0 win against Wales in the British Championship.[3] He also toured with FA Amateur XIs and with Middlesex Wanderers.[2] He had played for Leyton Orient's reserve team, and in 1954 signed amateur forms for Chelsea, but his only appearance in the Football League was for Brighton & Hove Albion in the Third Division South in October 1957.[2][4] Having moved to the Harlow area for work, Champelovier played for two seasons for Harlow Town and another one for Cheshunt before giving up the senior game.[2] References1. ^1 {{Hugman|3331|accessdate=9 November 2018}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Champelovier, Les}}2. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite web |url=http://www.hyufc.com/features/a_z/hfc/cassidy-christopher.html |title=A–Z of Hayes FC: Cassidy–Christopher |first=Terry |last=Hunt |publisher=Hayes & Yeading United F.C. |accessdate=9 November 2018}} 3. ^{{cite book |url=http://www.scottish-football-historical-archive.co.uk/Forgotten%20Glories.pdf |format=PDF |title=Forgotten Glories: British Amateur International Football 1901–1974 |first1=Brian |last1=McColl |first2=Douglas |last2=Gorman |first3=George |last3=Campbell |publisher=Scottish Football Historical Archive |date=2017 |pages=174–176, 290 |isbn=978-1-326-35601-9 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20170702210501/http://www.scottish-football-historical-archive.co.uk/Forgotten%20Glories.pdf |archivedate=2 July 2017}} 4. ^1 {{cite book |first1=Tim |last1=Carder |first2=Roger |last2=Harris |title=Albion A–Z: A Who's Who of Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. |publisher=Goldstone Books |location=Hove |date=1997 |page=50 |isbn=978-0-9521337-1-1}} 13 : 1933 births|Living people|People from Kensington|English footballers|England amateur international footballers|Association football inside forwards|Ilford F.C. players|Hayes F.C. players|Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. players|Harlow Town F.C. players|Cheshunt F.C. players|Middlesex Wanderers A.F.C. players|English Football League players |
