Life Is Like a Dream was released by Jacky Cheung, a Hong Kong singer, on April 20, 2004. His successful music and acting career has made him one of Hong Kong's icons. The album was produced by Cheung and Michael Au, are entirely sung in Cantonese.[1] Two versions were produced: a Hong Kong version and a Mainland version.

There were four tracks written by him.[2] "Tell You About Everything" and "To Friends" were the theme songs.

Influence

The tracks were all composed by Jacky Cheung, representing the starting point of his remarkable transformation into a singer-songwriter.[3] The theme song, "Tell You Everything", was written for his wife to express his love for her. "To Friends" was written for his late friends Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, and Blackie Ko, who all died in 2003. "Lullaby" was written for his daughter. His voice indicates his deep love for his daughter when singing.[4]

Cheung's considers the album one of his favorites.[5][6]

Cheung composed the melody for all the songs, and wrote the lyrics for three of them. The album was certified Double Platinum, selling over 150 thousands copies.

Tell You Everything

"Tell You Everything" was written, composed, and sung by Jacky Cheung, a Hong Kong singer[7], and produced by him together with Michael Au. The album was produced by IOI limited and released by What's Music International Incorporated.[8]

“Tell You Everything" is the theme song of the album Life is Like A Dream, and is a demo as well. The track was written and composed by Jacky Cheung to express his feeling for his wife May Lo.[9] His wife was his manager and a former actress. This was the second track that Jacky Cheung sang for May Lo in public. The first one was his famous track "Your Forename, My Surname", composed and written by his friends Lee Shih Shiong and Albert Leung.

The album Life Is Like A Dream was named as Tell You Everything. It was reported by the media in Mainland China, after being released in June, it was reproduced into a large amount of different versions.[10]

Jacky Cheung sang the track "Tell You Everything" for three times, i.e. A Concert for Friends held by Television Broadcasts Limited,Live the Life Concert, and The Year of Jacky Cheung World Tour held in 2030. The live versions of the track were included in the respective albums.

"Tell You Everything" soon reached to the top of the ranking of all the main music charts in Hong Kong, winning the championship of Four Stations Joint Music Awards.[11]

Awards

Jacky Cheung, who was taking a break from music awards, was honored a few new awards after releasing this album which includes the tracks he composed and wrote. He was awarded the Singer-Songwriter Gold Award in Ultimate Song Chart Awards. There were three tracks in the album winning the championship in Hong Kong. Not unexpectedly, "Tell You Everything" took the championship of Four Stations Joint Music Awards. The "Most Outstanding Album" also went to the album Life Is Like A Dream.
