}}Linda Mkhize (25 June 1981 – 8 August 2018), better known by his stage name ProKid or PRO, was a South African rapper and producer. He was known for rapping in a mixture of South African township vernacular and English on township life or Kasi.^[2] He became famous following the release of his self-recorded record Soweto. His song, "Ghetto Science" gained widespread popularity in South Africa.^[3]

His influence to the South African hiphop scene is beyond major he gave birth to what we call "kasi rap" . In the genesis of hiphop in the westcoast of America you had hiphop heavyweights like Dre Dre, Cube, Eazy E (NWA) SnoopDogg,Ice T etc create the westcoast sound in the south T.I,Gucci Mane,Young Jeezy are credited as the creators of trap music. Same applies for MR P.R.O he was one of the first few dudes among SA HIPHOP Vets like HHP, Skwatta kamp to rap in kasi lingo he represented the kasi lifestyle. Giving birth to kasi rap which later went on to inspire wordsmiths like MICKEY M,SIYA SHEZI,Emtee Da Huslter and M.T and AKA

Mkhize died on 8 August 2018 after a seizure, while visiting a friend in Johannesburg's central business district.^[3]
