Line 1 of the Lanzhou Metro is a subway line in Lanzhou running from {{LanzhouM stations|Donggang}} to {{LanzhouM stations|Chenguanying}}, has 20 stations and is {{convert|25.44|km|mi}} long. It was to begin operations in second half of 2018 after debugging and trial runs.

History

Line 1 started construction on July 9, 2012. Line 1 is {{convert|25.44|km|mi|1|sp=us}} with 20 stations.[1][2] The line is completely underground with a completion deadline of 2017.[3] The first two lines will cost about 23 billion yuan ($3.6 billion) and be completed by 2020.[4] The opening date for Line 1 was pushed to 2018.[5] The operating speed will be {{convert|80|km/h|mi/h}}.[6] At least some of the stations are fitted with full glass platform screen doors.[6]

On 22 October 2015, a fire broke out at the construction site of Donggang station. No casualties were reported by authorities.[7]

Rolling stock

In October 2016, the first two metro trains were delivered, but services have not started yet. The line will be served by a fleet of 26 high capacity type A EMUs with a capacity of 2460 passengers per trainset.[8] Each set is {{convert|139.98|m|feet}} long, {{convert|3.09|m|feet}} wide and {{convert|3.8|m|feet}} high. The rolling stock is manufactured in Changchun by China's CRRC.[9][10] The train sets are developed to be able to withstand sand storms, and feature aluminium bodywork with sand resistant paint, sand resistant glass, and the ventilation system is designed to handle large amounts of dust in the air.[11][12]
