{{short description|Famous photographs with Wikipedia articles}}

Many books have been produced about iconic photographs and giving suggested examples.[1] This list of iconic photographs provides an index to articles where the major topic is an iconic photograph of events or people. The requirement is that the particular photographs themselves are sufficiently famous to warrant an article – the fame of the person or event is not in itself enough. Sometimes the articles are about the person rather than the photograph taken of them but this is normally where they would probably not have become notable except for the image. Some of the photographs are of staged situations that did not actually take place at all.[2]
