The South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) Grand Final was the championship game for both the SEABL's men's and women's competitions, and was the conclusion of the SEABL's postseason. The league ran from 1981 to 2018. All Grand Finals were played in a one-game championship decider. Between 2012 and 2017, both the men's and women's Grand Finals were contested between the winners of the East Conference and the South Conference. For the league's final season in 2018, the "conference" system was scrapped, with a "top eight" finals structure taking its place.

Period of no overall champions (1994–2007)

{{See also|List of ABA National Champions}}

Between 1986 and 1993, the SEBL/SEABL/CBA consisted of two conferences, East and South. In 1994, a North Conference was added to the CBA, which led to the National Finals no longer being solely contested by East or South teams. As a result, no overall SEABL Champion was determined between 1994 and 2007. Between 1994 and 1997, the CBA's East and South conference champions would compete in the National Finals alongside the champions of the North Conference as well as a number of wildcards. Then in 1998, a Central Conference joined the CBA to make it four conferences competing in the National Finals. The following year, the CBA was renamed the ABA. 2000 saw the addition of the Big V Conference, and in 2001, the Waratah Conference was included for the first time.

SEABL champions (2008–2018)

Between 2008 and 2017, the East and South conference champions contested the overall SEABL Championship, with it being called the SEABL National Championship from 2009 onwards following the demise of the ABA in 2008. The demise of the ABA saw the end to the National Finals and the introduction of the one-game championship decider for the SEABL. In 2018, the "conference" system was scrapped, with a "top eight" finals structure taking its place.[3][4]

Canberra's addition in 2012 expanded the league to 14 teams.[20]
