Geography
Lough Meela is located about {{convert|5|km|0}} northwest of Dungloe and {{convert|3|km|0}} southeast of Burtonport, on the R259 road. It measures about {{convert|1|km|1|abbr=on}} long north–south and {{convert|0.5|km|1|abbr=on}} wide.[2]
Natural history
Fish species in Lough Meela include sea trout, brown trout[6] and flounder.[7] The lake is part of The Rosses Fishery.[6]
