He was director of the Institute of Obstetrics in Novara and of a Genoese clinic. In 1898, in Genoa, he operated on Constance Lloyd, the wife of Oscar Wilde, who died a few days after the operation.[2] He was elected to Parliament for the Italian Socialist Party in the twenty-first Legislature of the Kingdom of Italy (1900-1904). He was assassinated by the husband of a patient [3] for "a grossly unethical personal relationship with a patient".[4] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.treccani.it/enciclopedia/luigi-maria-bossi|title=Bòssi, Luigi Maria nell'Enciclopedia Treccani|website=www.treccani.it|access-date=2016-11-16}} {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Bossi, Luigi}}{{Italy-med-bio-stub}}{{Italy-politician-stub}}2. ^{{Cite journal|url=http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(14)62468-5/fulltext|title=The enigmatic illness and death of Constance, wife of Oscar Wilde|work=The Lancet|accessdate=16 November 2016|doi=10.1016/S0140-6736(14)62468-5|volume=385|pages=21–22}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.treccani.it/enciclopedia/luigi-maria-bossi_(Dizionario-Biografico)/|title=BOSSI, Luigi Maria in "Dizionario Biografico"|website=www.treccani.it|access-date=2016-11-16}} 4. ^http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/34139 6 : 1859 births|1919 deaths|19th-century Italian physicians|20th-century Italian physicians|Assassinated Italian politicians|Italian gynaecologists |
