BiographyHoffmann was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and began learning to fly at the age of 17. By the time she was 19, she was demonstrating aerobatics in her own biplane at air shows.[1] Hoffmann worked as a test pilot for the Bücker Flugzeugbau company. She carried out test flights of newly built Bücker 131 Jungmann aircraft and also demonstrated Bücker aircraft abroad. In 1935 she was the first pilot to fly the prototype of the Bücker 133 Jungmeister single-seat aerobatic and training aircraft.[2] On November 2, 1935 she was returning from demonstration flights in Turkey and Greece when she encountered bad weather near Vienna, crashed and was burned badly. She later died from her injuries.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{Cite web|url=http://www.buecker-museum.de/nmg_shop/artikel/Harry_Dempsey/Texte/hoffmann-eng.htm|title=Geschichte --> Fotogalerie --> Veteranen --> Veteranentreffen 07.09.2002|last=Alexander|first=Gohl,|website=www.buecker-museum.de|access-date=2017-02-20}} {{Authority control}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.athenianaviatorscollection.com/bu_133.html|title=Bücker Bü 133 - Athenian Aviators Collection|website=www.athenianaviatorscollection.com|language=en|access-date=2017-02-20}} 6 : 1910 births|1935 deaths|German female aviators|Test pilots|Aerobatic pilots|Aviators killed in aviation accidents or incidents |
