It will be the second metro system in Henan Province, as well as the first metro system in cities that are not a provincial capital in central and western China.[1] HistoryThe first phase of the system, including Line 1 and the first phase of Line 2, was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in August 2016.[2] Line 1 is {{convert|23|km}} in length with 18 stations and the first phase of Line 2 is {{convert|18.3|km}} in length with 15 stations.[2] Construction of Line 1 started on 28 June 2017,[3] and Line 2 on 26 December 2017. Lines under constructionLine 1Line 1 is a west-east line from Gushui station to Yangwan station. This line is estimated to be operational in December 2021.
