}}Luteostriata ernesti is a species of Brazilian land planarian in the subfamily Geoplaninae.[1] DescriptionLuteostriata ernesti is a medium to small land planarian, reaching up to {{convert|70|mm|in}} in length when crawling. The dorsal color is light-yellow with five dark longitudinal stripes: one median, two paramedian and two lateral. In most specimens the median and paramedian stripes are the thinnest and the lateral the broadest, but in some populations the paramedian ones are the broadest. The anterior end has a slight orange tinge and the ventral side is yellowish white.[1]EtymologyThe specific epithet ernesti honors the zoologist Ernst Marcus, who first described the species, but misidentified it as Geoplana marginata Schultze & Müller, 1858.[1] DistributionLuteostrata ernesti is found in Brazil, from São Paulo to Rio Grande do Sul, in areas of Araucaria moist forest, Subtropical Atlantic forest and Seasonal forests,[2] as well as in old pine plantations with a well-developed understore understory.[3]It occurs in the São Francisco de Paula National Forest and in the São Paulo Botanical Garden.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 {{cite journal|last1=Leal-Zanchet|first1=Ana Maria|last2=Froehlich|first2=Eudóxia Maria|title= A species complex in the genus Notogynaphallia Ogren and Kawakatsu (Platyhelminthes : Tricladida : Terricola) with a taxonomic revision of homonyms of Geoplana marginata Schultze & Müller and a reinterpretation of Notogynaphallia caissara (Froehlich) anatomy.|journal=Belgian Journal of Zoology|volume=136|issue=1|year=2006|pages=81–100}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q25095722}}2. ^{{cite journal | last1 = Carbayo | first1 = Fernando | last2 = Froehlich | first2 = Eudóxia Maria | title = Estado do conhecimento dos macroturbelários (Platyhelminthes) do Brasil | journal = Biota Neotropica | volume = 8 | issue = 4 | year = 2008 | pages= 177–197 |issn = 1676-0603 | doi=10.1590/S1676-06032008000400018 | language = Portuguese}}{{Open access}} 3. ^{{cite journal | last1 = Oliveira | first1 = Simone Machado | last2 = Boll | first2 = Piter Kehoma | last3 = Baptista | first3 = Vanessa dos Anjos | last4 = Leal-Zanchet | first4 = Ana Maria | title = Effects of pine invasion on land planarian communities in an area covered by Araucaria moist forest | journal = Zoological Studies | volume = 53 | issue = 1 | year = 2014 | issn = 1810-522X | doi = 10.1186/s40555-014-0019-1}}{{open access}} 2 : Geoplanidae|Invertebrates of Brazil |
