}}Maddie Rice is an American guitarist.[1] In 2015 she was chosen to play lead guitar in Jon Batiste's Stay Human, the house band for Stephen Colbert, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.[2]

Rice grew up in Utah.[1][4] Rice was so dedicated to music in high school that she finished her homework at school so she could devote five hours per night to practicing when she got home. Rice moved to Boston, Massachusetts for college; she attended the Berklee College of Music.[5] While there, she played electric guitar in an all-girl funk band that included Gabrielle Walter-Clay, and Alissia Benveniste.{{citation needed|date=November 2018}}

In New York she is also a member of a five piece band called Rubblebucket.[1]
