She went on to win the bronze medal in Budapest with a time of 2:09.71. She also won a gold medal as a prelim swimmer of the 4x200 freestyle relay. 2018Cox was banned from competition for six months after a urine sample taken in February 2018 tested positive for trimetazidine. FINA initially reduced her suspension from four years to two years because of Cox's testimony that she did not knowingly ingest the performance-enhancing drug, but would not reduce it further without evidence of the source of the trimetazidine.[8] Upon analysis of both opened and sealed bottles of Cooper Complete Elite Athletic multivitamins, the Court of Arbitration for Sport determined that the multivitamins were the source, and reduced Cox's suspension to six months. The suspension expired on September 3, 2018.[9] However, as United States Swimming World Championship trials occurred during her suspension, Cox was not able to qualify for the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.[10] References1. ^{{cite web|last=Pirtle |first=Krista |url=http://lubbockonline.com/sports-high-school/2015-07-02/long-way-lubbock-native-madisyn-cox-swimming-usa-korea#.WEnV5PkrKUk |title=The long way: Lubbock native Madisyn Cox swimming for USA in Korea | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal |publisher=Lubbock Online |date=2015-07-02 |accessdate=2016-12-08}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Cox, Madisyn}}2. ^{{cite web|author=Alyssa Goard |url=http://www.everythinglubbock.com/news/kamc-news/lubbock-native-madisyn-cox-competing-in-olympic-swim-trials |title=Lubbock Native Madisyn Cox Competing in Olympic Swim Trials |publisher=Everythinglubbock.com |date= |accessdate=2016-12-08}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/news/texas-invitational-madisyn-cox-longhorns-clock-3-more-records/ |title=Texas Invitational: Madisyn Cox, Longhorns Clock 3 More Records - Swimming World News |publisher=Swimmingworldmagazine.com |date= |accessdate=2016-12-08}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.dailytexanonline.com/2014/10/16/women%E2%80%99s-swimming-and-diving-team-has-a-hunger-for-excellence |title=Women’s swimming and diving team has a hunger for excellence | The Daily Texan |publisher=Dailytexanonline.com |date= |accessdate=2016-12-08}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.hookem.com/2016/12/06/madisyn-cox-earns-bronze-at-fina-short-course-championships/ |title=Madisyn Cox earns bronze at FINA Short Course Championships |publisher=Hookem.com |date= |accessdate=2016-12-08}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=https://swimswam.com/2016-short-course-worlds-team-usa-leads-day-1-medal-table/ |title=2016 Short Course Worlds: Team USA Leads Day 1 Medal Table |publisher=Swimswam.com |date= |accessdate=2016-12-08}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/summer/aquatics/vietnam-swimmer-anh-vien-nguyen-disqualified-fina-world-championships-1.3884707 |title=Vietnamese swimming star's DQ erases historic finish - CBC Sports - Aquatics |publisher=Cbc.ca |date= |accessdate=2016-12-08}} 8. ^{{cite web |title=FINA reduces doping ban for world champ Madisyn Cox|url=https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/aquatics/fina-american-madisyn-cox-doping-ban-reduced-1.4808729 |website=CBC |accessdate=2018-09-03 |date=2018-09-03}} 9. ^{{cite web |last1=Gibbs |first1=Robert |title=Madisyn Cox’s Suspension Reduced to Six Months after Trimetazidine Detected in Multivitamin |url=https://swimswam.com/madisyn-coxs-suspension-reduced-to-six-months-after-trimetazidine-detected-in-multivitamin/ |website=SwimSwam |accessdate=2018-09-03 |date=2018-08-31}} 10. ^{{cite web |title=Madisyn Cox Eligible to Compete After Source For Banned Substance Found in Multivitamin |url=https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/news/madisyn-cox-declared-eligible-to-compete-after-source-for-banned-substance-fou/ |website=Swimming World News |accessdate=2018-09-03|date=2018-08-31}} 10 : 1995 births|Living people|American female medley swimmers|American sportspeople in doping cases|Doping cases in swimming|Medalists at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m)|Sportspeople from Lubbock, Texas|Texas Longhorns women's swimmers|Universiade medalists in swimming|World Aquatics Championships medalists in swimming |
