{{Use dmy dates|date=June 2018}}{{Use Indian English|date=June 2018}}Mahim Halwa is an Indian sweet translated as "layered semolina sweet", named after Mahim a suburb of Mumbai. It is named so because it was created by the sweet meat makers "Joshi Budhakaka" who belong to Mahim.[1][2] It is a food speciality that Mumbai is famous for.[3] It has been described as a "unique confection of thin layers of sweet dough pressed into compact squares and separated by sheets of greaseproof paper.[1] A 2010 news story reports of attempts to obtain Geographical indication registration for the sweet.[4]
