S. Balan under the Gemini Pictures banner[2] and directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao.[3] It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishnam Raju, Kanchana in the lead roles and music composed by T. Chalapathi Rao.[4] The film was a remake of the Tamil film Savaale Samali (1972) and was remade as the Hindi film Charnon Ki Saugandh (1988). The film also inspired the Telugu film President Gari Pellam (1992), starring Akkineni Nagarjuna, Meena in pivotal roles. PlotGopalam (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) is the son of a poor farmer Seetanna (Gummadi), forced to work as a servant for a Zamindar Bangaraiah (Dhulipala). Gopalam always gives a tough fight to the Zamindar and his son Raja (Krishnam Raju). During the village elections, Gopalam decides to take a stand by running against the wealthy tyrant -- and impress his beautiful daughter Geetha (Kanchana) in the process. She wants nothing to do with a peasant's son, however. But the landowner ups the ante with an unusual wager, offering his daughter as the prize. Cast
