}}Mantra Dandam (English: Magical Wand) is a 1951 Telugu swashbuckling adventure fantasy film, produced by C. K. C. Chitti under the Sri Gnanambika Pictures banner[2] and directed by K. S. Ramachandra Rao.[3] It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Sriranjani Jr. in the lead roles and music composed by Nallam Nageswara Rao, while Saluri Rajeswara Rao has taken care of the background score.[4]

Plot

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom, it's queen (K. Jayalakshmi) gives birth to a baby boy and dies. The Younger Queen (C. Hemalata Devi) orders her maid Durga (C. Varalakshmi) leave the child in the forest. But with the blessings of the Goddess that the baby is protected by a Yogini (B. Jayamma) and names him as Siva Prasad. Years roll by, Siva Prasad (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) loves a flower vendor Gowri (Sriranjani Jr.). But another girl Girija (Surabhi Balasaraswathi) is also in love with him. Both Siva Prasad & Gowri leave the forest and they separate in between. Siva Prasad reaches the capital since the king (C.S.R) has no heir he decides whomever his elephant garlands will be declared as the prince and it wears on Siva Prasad's neck. Gowri somehow reaches the younger queen’s court. Girija was caught by Tintakarala (Linga Murthy) a sorcerer who helps the younger queen. Meanwhile, Younger queen’s brother commits a theft for which Gowri is blamed and presented in the court. The king asks Siva Prasad to punish her and he does so, even though knowing that she is innocent. After recovery of the ornaments, Siva Prasad realizes Gowri's virtue and promises to marry her. But the King does not accept it, he warns Gowri and orders her to leave the kingdom. Durga recognizes Siva Prasad as queen's son by the birthmark on his chest and informs to the younger queen. Now the queen asks Tintakarala to eliminate Siva Prasad, so, he plans and gives a Magic Wand to Girija with its help she brings Siva Prasad to his cave. Here the King accuses Gowri, makes her arrest and gives her seven days time to reveal the whereabouts of Siva Prasad. Afterward, Girija realizes Siva Prasad as her lover, so, she steals the Magic Wand and takes Siva Prasad away. At that moment, she learns Siva Prasad is loving Gowri, decides to kill her and reaches the fort. At that point in time, she notices someone is arriving so she hides the Magic Wand which is stolen by King's brother-in-law. The King observes it and questions him then he replies that his sister ordered him to do so. Now the king stats digging the matter and finds the entire truth when the younger queen commits suicide. Parallelly, Tintakarala becomes furious as his Magic Wand is lost, to take revenge he captures Girija & Siva Prasad and wants to sacrifice them. Disturbed King takes the help of Yogini and they reach the cave. By the time, combat starts between Siva Prasad & Tintakarala when Girija sacrifices her life to protect Siva Prasad. At last, Siva Prasad eliminates Tintakarala. In the fort, Gowri is about to hang but in the last minute Siva Prasad, King, Yogini reach and stops it. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Siva Prasad & Gowri.
