The position holder is a BPS-22 grade officer, usually belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service. The position of Maritime Secretary is considered to be a coveted slot as the Secretary is responsible for multiple key organisations such as the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) and the Pakistan Marine Academy (PMA). The current Maritime Secretary is Rizwan Ahmed.[1][2] Other departments under the purview of the Maritime Secretary includes the Government Shipping Office, Marine Fisheries Department and Mercantile Marine Department.[3] See also
