词条 | Mary Darling (Civil War nurse) |
释义 |
In December 1861, Darling's husband fell ill with typhoid fever. He was transported to Mound City Hospital in Illinois until March 1863. Darling did not have contact with her husband during this entire period.[3] When her husband returned to the service, Darling joined the regiment in Memphis to care for him until the winter of 1864.[3] After this, Darling worked solely in camps, and subsequently out of tents and makeshift shelters, until the end of her service, notably serving near the Shiloh battleground.[2] Even after her husband was discharged and Darling's official service ended, however, she continued to cook for the soldiers in the barracks.[3] References1. ^1 2 3 {{cite book|last=Holland |first=Mary G. |title=Our Army Nurses: Stories from Women in the Civil War |location=Roseville |publisher=Edinborough Press |date=2002 |isbn=978-1-889020-04-4 |page=74}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Darling, Mary (Civil War nurse)}}{{AmericanCivilWar-bio-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite book|last=Hall|first=Richard H.|title=Women on the Civil War Battlefront|location=Lawrence|publisher=University Press of Kansas|date=2006|isbn=9780700614370|page=232}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite book|last=Holland |first=Mary G. |title=Our Army Nurses: Stories from Women in the Civil War |location=Roseville |publisher=Edinborough Press |date=2002 |isbn=978-1-889020-04-4 |page=75}} 5 : Women in the American Civil War|Female nurses in the American Civil War|Year of birth missing|Year of death missing|American Civil War nurses |
