The type and only species, Masradapis tahai, was named and described by Erik R. Seiffert et al., in 2017.[1] Bayesian tip-dating, when combined with Bayesian biogeographic analysis, suggests that a common ancestor of known caenopithecines dispersed to Afro-Arabia from Europe between 49.4 and 47.4 Ma, and that a trans-Tethyan back-dispersal explains Caenopithecus’ later presence in Europe.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite journal|url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/315842489_New_adapiform_primate_fossils_from_the_late_Eocene_of_Egypt|title=New adapiform primate fossils from the late Eocene of Egypt|last1=Seiffert|first1=Erik R.|last2=Fleagle|first2=John|last3=Boyer|first3=Doug M.|last4=Sallam|first4=Hesham M.|journal=Historical Biology|issue=1-2|volume=30|pp=204–226|year=2017|doi=10.1080/08912963.2017.1306522}} {{primate-stub}} 4 : Prehistoric strepsirrhines|Eocene mammals of Africa|Fossils of Egypt|Fossil taxa described in 2017 |
