He was appointed Chief of Air Force in October 2015.[1] CareerHelgesson was born and raised in Gothenburg. He began his military career as a reserve officer at Norrland Dragoon Regiment in Arvidsjaur in the early 1980s.[2] He served as squadron commander at the Skaraborg Air Force Wing (F 7)[3] before being appointed commanding officer of Blekinge Air Force Wing (F 17) in 2009.
