Mansur Ahmed of the Gano Forum. BoundariesThe constituency encompasses Kulaura Upazila.[2] HistoryThe constituency was created in 1984 from a Sylhet constituency when the former Sylhet District was split into four districts: Sunamganj, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj.[3] Ahead of the 2008 general election, the Election Commission redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the 2001 Bangladesh census.[4] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[5] Ahead of the 2018 general election, the Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency by removing four union parishads of Kamalganj Upazila: Adampur, Alinagar, Islampur, and Shamshernagar.[6][2][8] Members of ParliamentElectionsElections in the 2010s{{Election box begin | title=General Election 2014: Maulvibazar-2[12]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Abdul Matin |votes = 30,871 |percentage = 55.0 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Jatiya Party (Ershad) |candidate = Mohibul Kadir Chowdhury |votes = 25,241 |percentage = 45.0 |change = -16.6 }}{{Election box majority| |votes = 5,630 |percentage = 10.0 |change = -21.0 }}{{Election box turnout| |votes = 56,112 |percentage = |change = }}{{Election box gain with party link without swing| |winner = Independent (politician) |loser = Jatiya Party (Ershad) }}{{Election box end}} Elections in the 2000s{{Election box begin | title=General Election 2008: Maulvibazar-2[6][14][15]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Jatiya Party (Ershad) |candidate = Nawab Ali Abbas Khan |votes = 130,941 |percentage = 61.6 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = MM Shahin |votes = 64,942 |percentage = 30.5 |change = -15.0 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Bangladesh Nationalist Party |candidate = A.
