She is the Director of the Malaria Entomology Research Unit and DST/NRF Research Chair in Medical Entomology in the University of the Witwatersrand. She is a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa. She is a consultant in the World Health Organization 's Global Malaria Programme. She obtained her Doctorate from the University of the Witwatersrand.[1][2][3][4][5][6] A subgenus of the aedes mosquito, Coetzeemyia, was named after her.[7][8] Professor Coetzee has published over 170 peer-reviewed scholarly articles.[9] Awards and honors
