She served as an advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy while on a fellowship from the American Association for the Advancement of Science.[4] Shankar also served as a United Nations Senior Adviser on Behavioural Insights.[5] She served as a visiting research scholar at Princeton's Center for Behavioral Science and Public Policy in the fall of 2016 and moved on to be the first head of Behavioral Insights at Google in February 2017.[5] EducationMaya earned her B.A. from Yale in Cognitive science and went on to earn her Ph.D from the University of Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship.
