A range of game variations make play more interesting. Though primarily a two player game, any of the variations that don't involve interaction with the second player can be played solo.[ Sears re-titled Maze Craze as Maze Mania for its Tele-Games system.[1]]Gameplay{{expand section|date=October 2017}}DevelopmentMaurer had been working on a clone of Space Invaders for the 2600, but because no one at Atari seemed interested in it, he looked for a new project. He took inspiration from the Fairchild Channel F Maze cartridge by Mike Glass, resulting in Maze Craze.[2] He later completed his version of Space Invaders for the 2600,[1] which was officially licensed from Taito and became the killer app for the console.[3] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Maze Mania|url=https://atariage.com/software_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=885|website=AtariAge}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=Reminiscing from Richard Maurer|url=http://www.dadgum.com/giantlist/archive/maurer.html|website=dadgum.com|date=January 5, 1999}} 3. ^{{cite web|last1=Breininger|first1=Jason|title=Space Invaders (Atari VCS/2600)|url=https://www.oldschoolgamermagazine.com/space-invaders-atari-vcs-2600/|website=Old School Gamer Magazine|date=January 30, 2018}} 4. ^1 2 3 {{citation|url=https://dadgum.com/giantlist|title=The Giant List of Classic Game Programmers|last1=Hague|first1=James}}
