It was built in 1889-1890 for an Irish immigrant. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. HistoryThe house was built in 1889-1890 for John McInteer, an Irish immigrant who made a fortune from selling harnesses and saddles.[2] McInteer married twice, and the house was inherited after his death by his second wife, whose brother was Judge Charles J. Conlon.[2] It was later acquired by Isabel Altus, "a retired professional violinist and an eccentric."[2] Architectural significanceThe house was designed in the Victorian architectural style.[2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 26, 1975.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2013a}} {{commons category|McInteer Villa (Atchison, Kansas)}}{{National Register of Historic Places}}2. ^1 2 3 {{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=75000707}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: McInteer Villa |publisher=National Park Service|author= |date= |accessdate=July 18, 2018}} With {{NRHP url|id=75000707|photos=y|title=accompanying pictures}} {{DEFAULTSORT:McInteer Villa}} {{Kansas-NRHP-stub}} 4 : Houses on the National Register of Historic Places in Kansas|National Register of Historic Places in Atchison County, Kansas|Victorian architecture in Kansas|Houses completed in 1890 |
