He played college football at Texas Tech. Awe was born in Lagos, Nigeria but moved to the United States when he was three years old. He has three siblings. Awe's mother graduated with her masters from Texas Tech University and his father graduated with his masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington. Awe has also been a been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, and the BC Lions. College careerAwe accumulated 171 solo tackles over 51 games for the Red Raiders including 77 stops as a senior and defensive captain in 2015. Professional careerTampa Bay BuccaneersAwe was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the team's rookie mini-camp in May 2016.[1] After not making the final 53-man roster Awe was signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad on September 5, 2016.[2] He was cut from the Buc's practice roster only 5 days later on September 10.[3] BC LionsOn March 7, 2017, Awe and the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League agreed to a contract.[4] In one season with the Lions, Awe recorded 54 defensive tackles, 16 special teams tackles and one forced fumble. On January 31, 2018 the Lions released Awe so he could pursue NFL opportunities.[5] New York JetsOn February 1, 2018, Awe signed with the New York Jets of the NFL.[6] He was waived by the Jets on April 28, 2018.[7] BC Lions (II)On August 20, 2018, it was announced that Awe had re-signed with the BC Lions.[8] In 7 games, Awe made 31 tackles of defense, as well as 3 special teams tackles.
