Dielemans rose to prominence in the international archery scene at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. There, he and his compatriots Sjef van den Berg and London 2012 fourth-place finalist Rick van der Ven launched eleven perfect 10s to beat the Frenchmen for the bronze medal with a steady 3–5 score.[2] Shortly after the European Games, Dielemans contributed to the Dutch trio's performance by finishing sixth and obtaining a full quota place for Rio 2016 at the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, booking his country's maiden appearance in an Olympic archery competition since Athens 2004.[3] Dielemans was selected to compete for the Dutch squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, shooting in both individual and team recurve tournaments.[3] First, Dielemans managed to tally a total of 634 points out of a maximum 720 to obtain a fifty-eighth seed heading to the knockout stage, along with his team's score of 1,981 accumulated from the classification round.[4] In the men's team recurve, Dielemans, alongside his compatriots Van den Berg and Van der Ven, firmly disposed the Spaniards with a 5–1 score in the opening round, before conceding a 2–6 defeat to the eventual champion South Korea during their quarterfinal match.[5][6] In the men's individual recurve, Dielemans proved more challenging in an attempt to overthrow London 2012 silver medalist Takaharu Furukawa of Japan, succumbing his Olympic debut to an opening-round defeat at 1–7.[7][8] References1. ^{{cite news|title=Mitch Dielemans |url=https://www.rio2016.com/en/athlete/mitch-dielemans |publisher=Rio 2016 |accessdate=18 February 2017 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160826115404/https://www.rio2016.com/en/athlete/mitch-dielemans |archivedate=26 August 2016 |df=dmy }} 2. ^1 {{cite news|title=Brons voor de handboogschutters op Europese Spelen|trans-title=Bronze for the archers at the European Games|language=nl|url=http://nos.nl/artikel/2042810-handboogschutter-van-den-berg-pakt-zilver.html|publisher=NOC*NSF|date=18 June 2015|accessdate=18 February 2017}} 3. ^1 {{cite news|title=Sjef, Rick and Mitch to represent Netherlands in Rio|url=https://worldarchery.org/news/141995/sjef-rick-and-mitch-represent-netherlands-rio|publisher=World Archery|date=22 June 2016|accessdate=18 February 2017}} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Handboogschutter Van den Berg vierde, Kim schiet wereldrecord|trans-title=Archer Van den Berg finished fourth, Kim shot for world record|language=nl|url=http://nos.nl/rio2016/artikel/2123355-handboogschutter-van-den-berg-vierde-kim-schiet-wereldrecord.html|publisher=Nederlandse Omroep Stichting|date=6 August 2016|accessdate=18 February 2017}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=Archery: Men's Team Quarterfinal |url=https://www.rio2016.com/en/archery-mens-team-quarterfinal |publisher=Rio 2016 |accessdate=18 February 2017 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160826101629/https://www.rio2016.com/en/archery-mens-team-quarterfinal |archivedate=26 August 2016 |df=dmy }} 6. ^{{cite news|title=South Korea nearly flawless in team archery, beats US|url=https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/2016/08/06/south-korea-nearly-flawless-in-team-archery-beats-us/88350148/|publisher=USA Today|date=6 August 2016|accessdate=18 February 2017}} 7. ^{{cite news|title=Archery: Men's Individual Round of 32 |url=https://www.rio2016.com/en/archery-mens-individual-1-32-eliminations-ar-25 |publisher=Rio 2016 |accessdate=18 February 2017 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160826101909/https://www.rio2016.com/en/archery-mens-individual-1-32-eliminations-ar-25 |archivedate=26 August 2016 |df=dmy }} 8. ^{{cite news|title=Mitch Dielemans uitgeschakeld bij het handboogschieten op Olympische Spelen|trans-title=Archer Mitch Dielemans eliminated at the Olympics|language=nl|url=http://www.omroepbrabant.nl/?news/253171662/Mitch+Dielemans+uitgeschakeld+bij+het+handboogschieten+op+Olympische+Spelen.aspx|publisher=Omroep Brabant|date=10 August 2016|accessdate=18 February 2017}} External links
